This double CD offers an exciting mix of live music from around the world, performed at the Nijmegen Music Meeting festival.
Included in the line-up are the Colombian salsa band La 33 playing not only salsa but also arrangements of cumbias, porros and boleros; Brazilian instrumental virtuosos Marcos Suzano & Hamilton de Holanda joining forces for a project with Brazilian-style rhythms with funk, jazz, rock and dance influences; Nigerian Seun Kuti & Fela’s Egypt 80 orchestra bringing an energetic mix of Nigerian Yoruba Music, Ghanaian high life, funk, soul and jazz; and the legendary Cuban charanga ensemble Orquestra Aragon.
The Nijmegen Music Meeting is an annual high point in the international festival world, and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2009. Music Meeting brings together musical styles from all corners of the globe, from jazz, soul and funk to klezmer, gypsy and Afro-Latin.
